Although all penguins are well used to for underwater hunting, this does not mean that the food they always gets easy. In this respect, American researcher G. Kuymenom with colleagues obtained very interesting data. They provide data on the three king penguins on South Georgia, which carries special sensors. In the colony, where the penguins were engaged in breeding of chicks, one of them was absent 4, the second - 6, the third - 8 days. The first in a time at sea has made 1,217 dives, the second - 488, third - 890. So many have to dive because only 10% of cases can catch prey. Approximately half of the dive was to 50 m, deeper than the rest - for the 100 and even 200 m. 

What do penguins eat - plankton, fish, mollusks and cephalopods. They get it only at sea and never use emissions. Is among the penguins almost entirely eatable species. These Galapagos and Magellan penguins, as well as the penguin Humboldt. They feed on such mass schooling fish like anchovies, sardines, mackerel and the like. Due mainly krill live Adele, Antarctic, crested and macaroni penguins. In areas with abundance of krill declines and the emperor penguin, and for the Papuan he can become the basis of nutrition. Fly species do not dive deeper than 70 meters and often limited to a depth of 20m.
